Mário Cento, the future leader of the Eurogroup
While in Portugal, Mário Centeno´s election was celebrated,
as if he had been elected the king of the universe,
the international press has given little or no importance
to his election, and ussually not in a positive manner.

como se ele fosse eleito o rei do universo,
a imprensa internacional deu pouca ou nenhuma importância
à sua eleição, e geralmente não de forma positiva.
The "Handelsblatt" newspaper argues that Centeno,
like his predecessor, Dijsselbloem,
will do what he is told, not more nor less.
Most important to the euro,
is the next German finance minister.
O Jornal "Handelsblatt", defende que Centeno,
tal como o seu antecessor, Dijsselbloem,
vai fazer aquilo que lhe mandam, nem mais nem menos.

Mario Centeno will be a "rat that does not roar",
as the president of the Eurogroup,
according to the German newspaper Handelsblatt,
adding that much more important than the election of Centeno
for the future of the euro,
is to know who will be the next Minister of Finance from Germany.
"Dijsselbloem has never had any decisive voice in the Eurogroup,
nor will Centeno have.
In recent years,
it has always been the former German finance minister,
Wolfgang Schäuble,
who defined what the Eurogroup ministers would decide on. "

acredita o jornal alemão Handelsblatt,
que acrescenta que bem mais importante
do que a eleição de Centeno, para o futuro do euro,
é saber quem será o próximo ministro das Finanças da Alemanha.
“Dijsselbloem nunca teve qualquer voz decisiva no Eurogrupo,
nem Centeno irá ter.
Nos últimos anos, sempre foi o ex-ministro das Finanças,
Wolfgang Schäuble,
a definir aquilo que os ministros do Eurogrupo decidiam”.
"Mr Centeno will not do more than chair the Eurogroup meetings
and it will be the finance ministers of Germany and France,
who will decide what happens in the eurozone,"
writes the "Handelsblatt",
Germany's leading financial daily.
Still, in the newspaper's daily newsletter,
the director of the publication, Gabor Steingart,
says that news of Centeno's victory was well received in Greece
- "ouzo" for everyone," Steingart writes,
referring to a very popular alcoholic beverage in Greece .
“O Sr. Centeno não irá fazer mais do que presidir às reuniões
do Eurogrupo
e serão os ministros das Finanças da Alemanha e de França
a decidir o que acontece na zona euro”,
escreve o Handelsblatt,
o principal diário financeiro da Alemanha.
Ainda assim, na newsletter diária do jornal,
o diretor da publicação,
Gabor Steingart diz que a notícia da vitória de Centeno
terá sido bem recebida na Grécia
— “ouzo para todos”, escreve Steingart,
em alusão a uma bebida alcoólica muito popular na Grécia.
Steingart ironically recalls that an academic,
who failed to be nominated,
to lead the Bank of Portugal´s study center
"for not having the necessary qualifications"
- a case that is still a stone in Centeno´s shoe,
in the relationship between Mário Centeno and Carlos Costa,
the governor of the Bank of Portugal
- will now have to lead the coordination of economic policies
and multi-millionaire public bailouts.
Steingart lembra com ironia,
que um académico que não conseguiu a nomeação
para liderar o centro de estudos do Banco de Portugal
“por não ter as qualificações necessárias”
— um caso que ainda hoje será uma pedra no sapato
na relação entre Mário Centeno e Carlos Costa,
o governador do Banco de Portugal
— vai, agora, liderar a coordenação de políticas económicas
e resgates públicos multi-milionários.
For an academic, who in Portugal could not get the nomination
of the Bank of Portugal for a Study Center,
Centeno is worth little !!
All his flagrant gaffes, made him the laughing stock locally,
causing someone to ask if it was an April Fool's joke.
Centeno will still be an embarrassment for Portugal.
A insignificant rat, always with a half foolish smile,
with efeminated gestures towards his collegues in Europe,
Centeno will soon be the laughing stock of Europe
and the world, for that matter!!
