António Costa, the Socialist Party leader and candidadte as PM
The Socialists are AGAIN trying to make laws
to protect themselves and fellow socialists
against the common laws, applicable to all other citizens.
Ricard Sa Fernandes, a lawyer and candidate
for a new emergent political party, "Livre",
states his opinion in no uncertain terms:
"I think the idea is absurd."
This is how Ricardo Sá Fernandes classified the socialist proposal
" to ensure the protection of politicians
or public officials against the misuse of legal means."
The politician considers that this intent
"can be read objectively,"
as a reaction to the arrest of José Sócrates
and argues that "the holders of political office
MUST be subject to the rules which are binding on ALL citizens."
Unfortunately, history repeats itself.
When the socialists were in power,
socialists deputies and other socialists militants
were caught up in a pedophile scandal,
of the case known as "Casa Pia",
of the case known as "Casa Pia",
where the socialists quickly rushed legislation through parliament
to protect their militants from prosecution.
The same socialists are against a law to punish
unlawful enrichment by public figures and politicians.
Of course, that's how José Socrates managed to
enrich himself with 23 million euros!!
And many other socialists who are keeping as quiet as mice
not to be called up to answer for their sudden enrichment and luxurious lives.
Portugal is on the alert!!
With the socialist ex-PM imprisoned as prisoner nr. 44,
in Évora's jail,
NOBODY wants a repetion of the scandals, corruption and
arrogance of a not very recent past.
Sá Fernandes expesses his biggest fear
by saying that he fervently hopes
that the "PS does NOT win by an absolute majority,
as it would be very bad for the country and for the PS."
