A proposta mais estúpida do mundo
"A proposta apresentada por deputados socialistas,
a propósito do alojamento local,
é um exemplo vivo de que o disparate não conhece limites.
Fazer depender esta actividade
da aprovação da Assembleia de Condomínio
representa o maior grito de insensatez de que tenho memória.
Não conheço os deputados autores do projecto, mas,
pela enormidade do que apresentam neste documento,
parecem não ter qualquer ligação ao tempo actual,
nem à realidade do século XXI.
Confesso que a primeira pergunta que me assolou foi:
de onde veio esta gente?
The proposal put forward by the socialist parliamentarians
concerning local accommodation
is a living example that stupidity has no limits.
Making this activity dependent
on the approval of the Condominium Assembly
represents the greatest cry of folly that I have memory of.
I do not know the deputies who are the authors of the project,
but because of the enormity of what they present in this document,
they seem to have no connection with current times,
nor with the reality of the twenty-first century.
I confess that the first question that struck me was:
where did these people come from?
Colocam em risco uma actividade
que alavanca toda a economia,
passará a ser refém das invejas
e das intrigas da má vizinhança.
Actualmente, o alojamento local gera,
para a economia de Lisboa,
qualquer coisa como seis mil milhões de euros,
seis vezes mais do que a Autoeuropa.
Foi o sector que mais contribuiu para a criação de emprego.
São milhares de pessoas que estão em causa.
São os pequenos empreendedores
que criaram o seu próprio emprego,
desde os Tuk-Tuk às centenas de restaurantes,
passando pelas empresas de limpeza,
pelos técnicos de manutenção, electricistas,
canalizadores, carpinteiros, decoradores,
engomadoras, guias turísticos, etc…
These stupid socialists put at risk an activity
that leverages the entire economy,
by putting the question of local accommadtion,
hostage to the envy and the intrigues of bad neighborhoods.
Currently, local accommodation generates,
for the economy of Lisbon, something like six billion euros,
six times more than Autoeuropa.
It was the sector that has contributed
the most to new job creation.
Thousands of people are concerned.
They are the small entrepreneurs
who have created their own jobs,
from the Tuk-Tuk to the hundreds of restaurants,
to cleaning companies, maintenance technicians,
electricians, plumbers, carpenters,
decorators, painters, tourist guides, etc ...
Estamos a falar de pessoas que entraram na vida activa
porque o turismo gerado pelo alojamento local
criou uma “nova economia”.
Uma economia que os acolheu,
depois de terem sido excluídos pelos modelos ortodoxos,
pela economia estatizante dos sindicatos que,
para garantir cada vez mais direitos a quem já tem emprego,
deixou de fora os jovens e as pessoas de meia idade.
São exactamente estas pessoas
que os projectos em debate na Assembleia da República
parecem ignorar ou esquecer.
We are talking about people who got into active life
because tourism generated by local housing
has created a "new economy".
An economy that welcomed them,
after being excluded by the orthodox models,
by the State economy controlled by the trade unions,
which, in order to guarantee more and more rights
to those who already have jobs,
left out the young and the middle-aged.
It is precisely these people
that the projects under debate in the Assembly of the Republic
seem to ignore or forget.
O projecto do Bloco de Esquerda
prevê uma limitação do alojamento local a 90 dias por ano.
É a ditadura de esquerda no seu maior expoente.
Colocar quotas no alojamento local,
reduzindo em 75% o período disponível,
é colocar quotas no rendimento das milhares de pessoas
que vivem desta actividade.
É reduzir em 75% o rendimento dos jovens empreendedores
que investiram, nos últimos anos, não só capital,
mas também cada minuto da sua vida, sem horários,
sem feriados ou sem fins de semana,
para agora, por decreto,
serem vencidos pela ignorância
de uma legislação filha da inveja.
The project of the radical communist Bloco Esquerda,
foresees a limitation of local accommodation to 90 days a year.
It is the dictatorship of the radical left in its greatest exponent.

É injusto, muito injusto que, ao invés de prémio,
recebam castigo.
Mas, o disparate oferecido por estes projectos não acaba aqui.
Se o propósito é travar o aumento do preço das casas no centro de Lisboa,
o efeito desta aberração será exactamente o inverso.
O problema não está na grande procura, está na pouca oferta.
Durante a crise, a construção retraiu-se, como é normal,
e a escassez de imóveis inflacionou os preços.
Os valores actuais voltaram a estimular a construção,
mas que rapidamente irá arrepiar caminho.
It is unfair, very unfair that, instead of receiving praise,
they receive punishment.
But the nonsense offered by these projects does not end here.
If the purpose is to stop the increase in housing prices
in the center of Lisbon,
the effect of this aberration will be exactly the opposite.
The problem is not in the great demand, it is in the low supply.
During the crisis, construction contracted, which is normal,
and real estate shortages inflated housing prices.
The current values have once again stimulated construction
but will quickly go down the drain.
A insegurança que estas mudanças constantes
provocam nos investidores é catastrófica para a economia.
O preço da incerteza é a retracção no investimento,
a redução da oferta e consequente
aumento de preço dos poucos imóveis disponíveis.
É a doutrina do “poucochinho” a impor-se,
a tolher e a capturar a ambição de quem quer crescer,
construir e criar valor.

provoke in investors, is catastrophic for the economy.
The price of uncertainty is the reduction in investment,
the reduction of supply
and the consequent increase in the price
of the few available properties.
It is the doctrine of the "just a little bit" which imposes itself,
to halt and to capture the ambition of those
who want to grow, build and create value".
The classical punishment for those who refuse
to dance to the will and the regime
of communists and communist-controlled trade unions.
Anything or anyone who dare have a private business,
not state - and trade union-controlled,
risks the greed and jealousy of the anti-capitalist communists!!
