Cloak-and dagger intrigue and scandals at a feverish high in Lisbon!!

Minister of Culture, João Soares, waited all day
for the resignation letter of the CCB manager, António Lamas.

But in the late evening, the minister dismissed Antonio Lamas himself.
The PSD talk of political 'persecution.'
The Minister of Culture, João Soares,
consummated last night the summary dismissal of
the president of the Centro Cultural de Belém,
after the threats of doing just that, which he has been flinging around in public
for the last ten days.
Mr Lamas´ successor, Elísio Summavielle,
currently the Deputy Minister and former Secretary of State for Culture
of José Sócrates governance,
had been waiting axiously in the wings.
Although the dismissal-resignation had been previously announced,
the suspense lasted until the last minute.

'Arrogance', says the PSD about the announced resignation of Antonio Lamas
(who was chosen by Passos Coelho ),
and his replacement by a former ruler of the socialist government,
triggered criticism from the PSD.
Sergio Pimpão, the PSD coordinator in the commission of culture,
accused João Soares of "prepotency and arrogance".

Another Social Democrat deputy, Carlos Abreu Amorim,
detailed allusions to political favouritism (and masonic complicities).
"The PS is drenching the state with their cronies and" Brothers ",
quietly and joyfully, without shame or fear of public condemnation.
Basically, they think the state are "theirs"
and it only exists for "them" to take advantage
from it as they please",
he wrote in Facebook.

Duarte Marques, mainly attacks the way the good name of Mr.Antonio Lamas
 was called into question.
"It is normal to change people at this level
due to the change of political strategies.
But it is unfortunate and unbecoming to do this through the newspapers.
It especially concerns people who had won public contests
and who have extensive Curriculum as managers.
It is unacceptable that Lamas should be subjected
to this type of political persecution, "said the PSD deputy.

The fact that João Soares publicly threatened the manager with the dismissal,
without coming immediately into effect,
is what Duarte Marques considers as "unacceptable pressure".
This "fear and pressure strategy makes no sense
and is proper of the arrogance of other regimes,
which is not a democratic system,"
he concluded.

The criticism, of the way the CCB manager was attacked, by the supervising minister,
also gave rise to an angry piece of opinion by the art historian,
Raquel Henriques da Silva.
"I have decided to take a stand, on this matter, to express my deep indignation
on the way Antonio Lamas has been messed up,"
she wrote yesterday in the "Public" newspaper,
(she is a professor at the University of Lisbon, a Femina Prize winner in 2012
for the study and dissemination of the Portuguese culture abroad).
"My anger is based on the unacceptable attitude of a newcomer minister,
who has not even yet proven anything,
against a man who, over the last thirty years,
has served the Portuguese heritage,
with rare brilliance and respect for public affairs", she added.
Raquel Henriques da Silva, criticized the public attacks
of João Soares on António Lamas:
"It is with sorrow that I refer to this "trauliteiro",
using unfortunate language as the nation's minister,
and even more so,
of course, as the Minister of Culture."

The "cloak-and -dagger" intrigue continue,
just more openly,
with the "victims" the political opponents of this unelected
contraption of socialists and communists together,
creating or serving as smoke-screens to hide
their own cloak-and-dagger struggles.
