The anti-democratic blocking forces in parliament

Marco António Costa,
Vice-president of the Social Democrats

After a meeting with the Social Democratic Youth,
Marco Antonio Costa told reporters
that what one has "seen is the sum of negative desires
that tend to subvert the election results."
Speaking about the current political atmosphere in Portugal.

These same desires - meaning the expressed intention
to make the government collapse,
with the presentation of a motion of rejection of the program of governance,
which will be presented in the Assembly -
thereby trying to "prevent those who won the elections to govern the country."

The situation of political uncertainty that exists today, he stressed,
"harms the country and will have serious consequences on stability",
not to mention the "disruption to the economic growth
that the country is experiencing."

Antony Costa ensures that " the Portuguese have reasonable grounds
to express great concern about their future
with this attitude of negative desires
that are forming a blocking force within the parliament
without any respect for the election results."

Before concluding his remarks with the journalists,
the vice president of the Social Democrats conceded
that it is not "surprising" to find this position from the communists PCP
 or the Bloco Esquerda,
but when it comes from the Socialists (PS),
 it is different.

"This is more incomprehensible when there are parties
with different responsibilities.
We find it strange, coming from the Socialists (PS)
because it has a special responsibility in democracy
and we do not understand what's behind
this sudden change of attitude,"
he concluded.
