Mário Nogueira Education Trade Union leader
"34% of "fails " in the teaching test.
Eleven percent of the fails are repeated for the second time".
By Bernardo Esteves
"One in every three teachers tested
in the Knowledge and Capacity Assessment Test (PACC) failed,
and 36% of the candidates gave more than three spelling errors.
The results announced yesterday by the
Educational Assessment Institute (IAVE)
clearly show that in the 2490 validated exams,
857 teachers (34.3%) failed and of the 1633 (65.7%) passed.
The failing rate more than doubled in relation to the 15% of the first edition".
These results are really shocking in the light that those considered "teachers"
can not even pass in a general Knowledge and Capacity Test.
Those that are supposed to "teach" and educate our children in public schools
are NOT qualified for the job!!
"Teachers who took the test a second time,
after faling the test the first time, had worse results.
In 544 teachers, the failing rate was 53%,
e.g. there were 290 teachers who failed the second time.
Among the 1946 teachers who sat for the test for the first time 29.2% failed.
In relation to all candidates, most obtained ratings
between 50 and 70 out of a possible 100 points.
Only 6.7% managed to obtain more than 80 points
and only 0.8% of the candidates passed with 90 points".
These results are an absolute disgrace as proved by the Education Department.
The Minister of Education, Nuno Crato,
insist that teachers should be better qualified
to be able to work as qualified teachers in public school.
It is more than obvious that in a modern day and age
teachers should be re-qualified continuously
to be up-to-date with the ever-changing challenges
that society requires and faces.
The Trade Unions are completely AGAINST any of these tests,
as they only lay bear the insufficiencies
of the unqualified public school teachers
of the unqualified public school teachers
governed by the trade unions.
Another test is planned for the month of February and Mário Nogueira,
has already decreed a complete strike for public school teachers
during the month of February.
during the month of February.
By keeping the teachers in an iron-fist grip of tirany,
Nogueira has kept thousands of public school teachers
in an absolute "educational ignorance"
degrading the quality of public school education in Portugal.
Mário Nogueira calls the test "idiotic" and says: "it proves nothing".
"The report also indicates that in the written part of the test,
(valued at 20 points), almost a quarter of the candidates didn't get more than 5 points.
And there were even 22% of the candidates who obtained zero points,
either because they didn't comply with the minimum of 250 words (77% of the candidates)
or did not respond at all (18% of the candidates).
In response to this item, 36.2% had more than three spelling errors.
And 20% of the cadidadtes had five or more grammatical errors.
There were still 16% of candidates who had five or more punctuation errors.
As for the syntax errors, 16% of applicants had three or more.
The overall average grade was 56.2 points".
With these dismal, negative results,
I fully agree with Mário Nogueira's slogan:
"Like this, no one can be a teacher!"
I would like to add: with such shockingly negative results
none of your trade union's teachers can be a good public school teacher,
paid by the tax-payers money.
paid by the tax-payers money.
This negative part is nearly "unbelievable",
seeing that teachers SHOULD be able
to write creatively, without spelling mistakes,
not even speaking about grammatical errors.
The mediocre students coming out of universities, by the thousands,
just proves that they are the products of unqualified teachers,
who can´t even write correctly.
All these above facts contribute to the fact that highly qualified people
are a rare commodity in the country, and therefore much sought after.
To be competitive and efficient,
a solid foundation in the school is essencial.
Without changing the tirany of the trade unions,
Portugal will continue to grind out low-qualified, illerate students.
For the Ministry of Education the results
"show, once again the need for this test
in the selection of candidates to the profession."
With these dismal results I fully agree
with Mário Nogueira's slogan:
"Like this, no one can be a teacher!"
