This is a picture of the "fabulous" gardens
of the "Cerca"
of the "Cerca"
on the slopes of Graça in Lisbon.
Its date of completion was first announced
by the socialists in the Chamber of Lisbon:
by the socialists in the Chamber of Lisbon:
for September 2009,
then for mid-2011,
then for September 2013,
and finally for April 2013.
But alas!!
the garden is still a huge deserted construction site.
Construction has been interrupted since Christmas last year,
all the heavy machinery have been removed several month ago.
All that can be seen on site are empty spaces
created by the indiscriminated cut of inumerous large trees,
created by the indiscriminated cut of inumerous large trees,
and huge concrete structures
without any connection with the surrounding environment.
Situated on the Calçada do Monte,
at the rear of the Graça Convent and barraks,
it has become an eye-sore in the city of Lisbon.
In the original construction budget,
the works would cost 799 thousand euros.
the works would cost 799 thousand euros.
The municipality planned to plant 179 trees on the site.
The constructor claims that the municipality doesn't pay its bills,
and therefore all works have been stopped.
It's a fine picture of the socialist's promises,
faithfulness in paying bills, and more promises!!
A picture of what to expect with
António Costa as a future Prime Minister??
God save our country from the socialists' greed and false promises!!
