According to the newspaper "i", a group of Socialist militants,
responded to the call of some notable socialists,
claimed that the socialists governance of ex-Prime Minister,
José Sócrates, "led Portugal to disaster"
and assuming that to now allow,
the socialists to return to power,
especially those who were part of the Sócrates' government,
either as ministers or secretaries of State,
would be committing a "crime against the nation"!
Some of the old historical "dinosaurs" of the party
such as Almeida Santos, Jorge Sampaio, Manuel Alegre and José Vera Jardim,
appealed to socialists militants to "clarify" the guerrilla war being waged within the party,
not forgetting who the "real" opponent is.
In response to these historical members of the party,
a group of party activists wrote a text in which they blame
the years of the Sócrates regime for paving "the way for enormous salary cuts,
the privatizations which were made without any criteria,
which led to the eventual discredit of the institutions"
Henrique Neto, Ventura Leite, Rómulo Machado and António Gomes Marques,
said in the document: "It was we, the socialists, who brought this disaster to the country,
and the sooner we, socialists, admit it, the better for the party and especially,
for Portugal"
In the same document, the above-mentioned militants said:
"It is imperative to prevent that the same people who led Portugal to disaster,
return to power again, risking committing a crime against the nation and become an insult
to the principles and values of the Socialist Party"
With the socialist party transformed into a public reality show,
all the toxic fall-out are being exposed by the militants from within,
who have lived so long suppressed by fear of free expressions of their ideas.
The hornet's nest is opened, as well as Pandora's Box.
Lots of new revelations await us!!
