The failure of Sócrates' mega-promised-projects

At least three mega-projects with promises of thousands of job opportunities,
failed to comply established deadlines with the State,
some even received millions in financial incentives from the State.

In Aveiro, Sócrates promised a factory to produce car bateries,
investing 56 million euros and offering jobs for 200 workers.
The project failed.

In Viana do Castelo, another multinational project to produce rotor blades,
costing more than 55 million euros in State investment,
and a possible 500 job opportunities,
failed to be implemented.

A mega-project to produce solar panels in Abrantes,
failed because the contractor didn't comply
within the established time of execution.
More than 1.52 billion euros and 1,900 jobs were at stake.

In July the multinational Rio Tinto,
gave up on an investment of more than a billion euros
in the iron ore mines of Torre de Moncorvo,
with the loss of 420 direct and 800 indirect possible jobs.

It's so easy to promise the moon, the stars and the universe,
BUT to COMPLY is another neverending story!!
