GNRs slept on the floor, on bare matresses, without decent food, in subhuman conditions! WHAT a SHAME!!

Constança Urbano da Sousa, Socialist Minister of Internal Affairs

The undignified condition where the GNR Police force on 24 hour duty
in Fátima had to sleep, during the Pope's visit.

During the weekend visit of Pope Francisco,
to Portugal for the Centenary celebration
of the Apparitions in Fátima,
many were the GNR professionals,
assigned to guard the Pope in Fatima
- close to three thousand were o duty on a daily basis.
In a statement,
the Association of Professional Guards (APG)
 confirms that "Operation Fatima"
implied "the an extraordinary commitment
from the number of GNR professionals,
who are doing their best, with high professionalism,
so that everything went with normality. "

For that reason, "it was with deep perplexity and indignation"
that the organisation was informed
that "there were professionals who,
during this operation, which lasted of four days,
were housed in subhuman conditions,"
the statement said.
"Some professionals spent the night,
in a open pavilion of the Practical Police School in Torres Novas,
without any access to the sanitary facilities,
which could allow them to carry out their daily personal hygiene
and also, without any guaranteed food,
to the extent that they were dependent
on the distribution of leftovers
'of the police students' meals, "
the Association states.

The APG also laments that the guards had to sleep
on"mattresses on the floor, without sheets or blankets,"
were "the dignity that the institution gave to those who serve them."

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Constança Urbano de Sousa,
admitted today that there were "constraints"
in the accommodation of such a large number of military personnel,
but considered it to be "an exceptional period"
in which the comfort of the military was "secondary".

The minister told reporters at the end of a visit
to the territorial post of the GNR in Fátima,
"This is an exceptional time when people give their best.
There were constraints that existed at these times,
but it something secondary,
taking into account this enormous mission, "

It may be a SECONDARY ISSUE for the minister,
so WHY didn't Constança Urbano, António Costa,
and the rest of the socialist ministers and the government
deputies do the same?
Sleep on the floor, on bare mattresses, without blankets, ~
and eating, when available, the leftovers of the students,
without ANY access to the bathrooms and toilet facilities.

Just imagine how many millions of the taxpayers money
could have been saved,
if they also had the "enormous missionary spirit".

SHAME ON THESE HYPOCRITS!!
