The marxist-socialist Government of António Costa, chose a line of governance, that is leading Portugal into a steep decline"

The flying diary cow

The marxist-socialist Government of António Costa,
chose a disastrous line of governance,
that is leading Portugal into a steep economic decline.

A flying cow - suddenly there it was, on TV, in direct,
in front of all of Portugal,
the perfect symbol of the marxist-socialist "re"-governmental policy,
where everything is revoked, restructured, recycled,
retracted, reorganized, reversed, renegotiated, resigned  etc, etc.
The prime minister,  António Costa´s, whole the political thought
is encapsulated in a cheap, battery propelled gadget,
purchased at Heathrow airport,
when he said in a sheepish smile
or should it rather be a "cowish" smile?, that:
 "Nothing is impossible!
The proof is, that even a cow can fly! "

It could have been just a joke - but it was not.
It was, rather, something closer to a Freudian slip.
Equipped with an inexhaustible battery
and an unshakable faith in winged cattle,
António Costa, rules the country, as if the cows really did fly:
against all odds and with a bovine dose of magical thinking.
Notice, however, that the object in question was not only a "normal" cow,
it was a diary cow.
Even the adjective is revealing:
meaning"cash" in the popular sense of "luck"
and "fortune at the game."

The purpose of the electric cow, was, after all,
to transfer to the heavens or to the future,
the resolution of Portugal´s immediate problems.
The Portuguese voluntarism, that António Costa illustrated so well,
with his flying cow, is never an attempt to overcome a problem -
but it is rather, a deep desire for a miracle.
Everywhere there are motivational speeches,
but its purpose is usually to rally the people to stand together,
to be prepared for the sacrifices to come,
the way Winston Churchill did:
"All I have to offer, is blood, sweat and tears"

And amongst the most serious replacements of António Costa,
is precisely this Messianic and gormless mentality,
always looking for a stroke of luck, that would solve our lives for us
- "look! even the cows can fly!"
No, man! cows do NOT fly.

And we do not need flying cows.
What we need is, as Natalia Correia once said,
"is to take the bull (cow) by its horns
and stick in the horns at our destination".
It is hard, it takes a lot of work,
but it is a thousand times better
than to spend our lives looking for
vaporous flying herds of cows, in the socialist heaven,
while the country is hanging onto a frail coconut thread.

Inspired by an opinion of Miguel Sousa Tavares

"Contrary to all expectations created, by the marxist-socialist Government
of António Costa, the situation in Portugal,
has not only deteriorated,
with almost all the relevant indicators of progress being reversed,
especially the indicators of international confidence,
which Portugal had so painstakingly been building up since the bankrupcy,
and the gradual, new economic recovery began,
especially since 2014,"
stressing that the majority of the present indicators
of the marxist-socialist government´s preformance
has only provided "negative data",
more precisely, the international confidence indicators.

"Despite the positive contribution, brought about by internal consumption,
investments are falling alarmingly and exports have virtually stopped,
interrupting a virtuous cycle that had begun several years before,
totally putting in jeopordy the prospect of ANY economic growth in 2016".

Passos Coelho, the ex PM, said he expected Portugal
to reach "a negative result, clearly below that of the previous year."
Moreover, the PSD leader,
noted that "the external perception of what is happening in Portugal,
has changed radically,
penalizing the State´s international financing conditions."

"Portugal began to distance itself from the countries,
to which it struggled so hard to igual itself,
such as Ireland, Spain and Italy,
and is in actual fact getting closer and closer to the country
from which Portugal wanted to distance itself,
as in the case of Greece,"
the former prime minister added.

"This marxist-socialist Government,
in order to distinguish itself from the previous government
and to satisfy the balance and the demands
of his radical communist support base,
wanted to establish itself, as never before,
in a democratic society,
by undoing, reversing and promising to undo
much of the structural change,
that was done with enormous effort and sacrifice,
 in recent years in Portugal."

"By choosing this path, the marxist-socialist government,
consciously opted for a democratic setback line,
which is leading Portugal into a social, economic decline
as well as a political decline."

"The flying socialist cow" syndrome!
