Paulo Rangel: "Costa lies and manipulates", " I will not be silenced."

Paulo Rangel, Euro deputy of the PSD

Paulo Rangel accused the head of government, António Costa,
of lying and manipulating his statements out of context.
Rangel concludes that Costa, can not handle criticism
and wants to silence those who want to demonstrate
what Costa´s budget  for 2016 will eventually cost the Portuguese.

In a very critical opinion article written in the Publico newspaper, entitled,
"Oh, it hurts, it hurts, Dr Costa!"
Paulo Rangel said what he said within the context,
in which he spoke about Portugal, in the European Parliament.

"I'm not here to pull galeons or scrolls of parchment about Portugal,
or of the national spirit and patriotic sense.
It would be ridiculous and redundant.
I would confine myself to correct what was said based on the facts.
Because the lie that was launched, was repeated twice at official occassions,
which is not rumor any more.
It is an open insinuation and treachery,
I therefore invite anyone to listen to the recording
of the plenary session of the European Parliament",
writes MEP (memeber of the European Parliament),
stressing that those who brought the matter to the parliament in Strassburg
 - making a correct interpretation of her mandate, adding -
that it was the socialist MEP Maria João Rodrigues,
who brought up the subject.

"When it was my turn to speak,
I had naturally to contradict what was said,
in the short time of only one minute, that is to say,
not calling into question the European convictions of the Portuguese socialists,
but we can not forget that the Portuguese Government
is supported by two forces: the radical left communist factions
and one of them, is clearly anti European - PCP -.
and had already demonstrated these opinions in this very same debate
in João Ferreira´s intervention (in which, heresy of heresies, he spoke of Portugal)
and the other - Block Esquerda -
has economic conceptions incompatible with a social market economy
which forms the basis of the European Union as we know it
and ended up with a terrible parliamentary tirade:
"Tell me with whom you walk, I will tell you who you are"
Was this the serious crime of treason
against the homeland that Rangel committed?
What I said was only this and nothing else....
nothing that could have caused all the excitement and the apprehension
that Costa´s Budget has generated and still generates in the EU institutions
and in the international markets", writes Rangel,
reminding that also Elisa Ferreira and Ana Gomes expressed their opinions.
"But they - they speak according to the guidelines
of the current government -
certainly they did not violate any rule against the nation."

"I respect António Costa as a man, as a politician,
as the prime minister of my country.
I respect him, but I can not stand and do not admit, even for a split second,
that he dares to undermine my patriotism or my national sense.
Again, I repeat: I can not stand, I do not admit
and I do not receive any lessons or rebukes from António Costa.
Unfortunately, it's the second time that he does it,
in a short space of days,
first in the fortnightly debate
and now during the budget debate",
writes Rangel.

"Dr. Costa, as I have already suspected - because of some disquieting signs -
and now I have the confirmation, that Costa can NOT deal with criticism,
 and different opinions of others"
and now "I also know that Costa resents someone who dares to reveal
how much this new State Budget for 2016 will cost
the families and tax-payers - all the Portuguese at large!
Ai, ai, it hurts, it really hurts Dr. Costa!
One thing I can assure you, no matter how much it hurts you:
do not intimidate me or try to shut me up,
because I will continue to fully exercise my mandate,
on behalf of my country
and on behalf of those who elected me",
he concludes.
