TAP just been privitized by the previous government
The new unelected government of socialists-Marxists-Leninists,
have decided to revert the privitization of TAP,
the national airline, which was sold to the Gateway consortium.
TAP: The business reversal can cost billions of euros to the portuguese taxpayers
Values are three times higher than what the state received,
Values are three times higher than what the state received,
to hand over 61% of the carrier to the Gateway consortium.
One of the main governing objectives proposed by the new Cabinet
with the parliamentary support of the Left-wing and radical parties,
is the reversal of all the transport privatizations
concluded by the previous government,
one of them is the airline TAP.
This enormous 'step back' may, however,
be very costly for the portuguese taxpayers.
If the Executive of António Costa insist in choosing
to reverse the privatization,
the amount payable will be close to one billion euros,
an amount three times higher than the 354 million
paid by the Atlantic Gateway consortium,
of David Neeleman and Humberto Pedrosa
for 61% of the capital of TAP.
In an
interview for the "i" newspaper, Pedro Marques,
of the Minister's Office
of Planning and Infrastructure,
said that "there is an ongoing
negotiation process"
and that "the Government is firmly determined
to
get back for the state, a majority stake in the TAP airline."
The same source did
not, however, give any further details on the subject.
Costs, however, will not only be calculated in a simple manner.
"It will take into account, not only the value of the transaction,
but the future profits that the business will generate for its investors,"
recalls José Miguel Judice,
coordinator partner in the area of arbitration practice
of the law firm PLMJ.
The Socialists Government of António Costa is completely
taken over by the Central Committee of the Communist Party,
which dictates the nationalization of all financial entities, transport systems
Health Care and Educational Entities.
By making a deal with evil,
is the biggest weakness of António Costa,
and will cause his early political death.
Gaining control of the above-mentioned sectors of the economy,
the communist trade Unions, especially the CGTP,
can officially paralyse the country with constant strikes and disruption
of the portuguese daily lives.
It won't be long, before the economy will collapse
and another bailout will be necessary.
