Aguiar-Branco, Minister of Defense
Following the exercises 'Trident Juncture' of NATO,
Defense Minister José Pedro Aguiar-Branco,
spoke to reporters about the importance of the international institution
in relation to the country and the reasons why it must be respected.
Aboard the frigate "Vasco da Gama",
the minister declined to comment on the agreement
between the PS, the Bloc and the PCP,
for still not having "any knowledge"
of the content of this understanding.
However, the barbs have been released.
"Whoever wins the election, is asked to form a government,
takes over and rules the country.
What is not normal is that the three defeated parties
deem that they are the winners.
The sum of three defeated parties, does not give a winner", he criticized.
The minister recalled the "political legitimacy"
that "resulted from the popular vote"
and said that he is sure that the vote given to Socialist Party (PS),
was that of a PS party that is favourable to the presence of NATO
and favourable to the historic commitments assumed,
with regard to the European Fiscal Treaty".
"We are still to see what these realities comprise of,
which are laid down in such an agreement,
because up to this date, there is none," he added.
About the ever-widening distance of the Socialists
from the Right-wing parties and the socialists´ Left-wing approach,
Aguiar-Branco said only that "no one knows, until today,
what are the reasons why the PS won't come to an agreement"
with the "Portugal Ahead" coalition.
The ONLY plausible reason is Costa's unbridled personal ambition.
He vowed during the election campaign,
that winning or losing,
HE WOULD RULE THE COUNTRY,
at whatever cost!
Frankly, the portuguese are on a vomitting point of all these political games
of Costa,
with his radical bed-fellows, the Bloc and the communists.
The country is SICK AND TIRED of this sordid never-ending cheap soap-opera.
Costa is to blame!!
He has divided his own party,
with more than 400 socialists participating this evening in a dinner
to discuss Costa's left-wing swerve
and its international and national implications.
