Vote for António Costa and as part of the bargain,
you get at least some of the hard-core of the Socrates´ gang,
all Costa's most intimate, faithful henchmen
In an open letter to António Costa,
Eduardo Catroga,
internationally recognized economist and ex-mininster,
exposed the scandalous way that António Costa,
tried to blame the PSD (current goverment),
for the international bail-out plea from a bankrupt Portugal,
in a televised debate with the PM Pedro Passo Coelho.
Here are parts of what he wrote:
"In 2011, the country was fast moving towards complete bankruptcy
with the Socialist government of Engineer José Sócrates,
so I accepted, as an independent citizen,
to collaborate with the PSD, between March and June of that year,
by coordinating a political program
aimed at the recovery of external credibility of Portugal
and the creation of conditions
for a new cycle of economic and social development".
"Following your statements, which were as surprising as unjustified,
in the televised debate of 9 September, I was forced to clarify in public,
as you mentioned my role in the negotiation were just not true.
When the truth is so blatantly reversed with untruths,
it requires, in all consciousness, to restore the truth of the facts,
in an absolutely crystal clear way.
Because we are talking about facts, not ambiguous interpretations,
nor differing opinions.
The purpose of torturing the memory of the Portuguese
and of trying to rewrite the history of the facts,
can never be justified as the arms of the parties in an election campaign".
"Your statements do not match the facts, both with regard to the substance,
as the condition. ~
It is beyond any doubt and any reinterpretation of the past,
that the former Prime Minister José Sócrates
and former Finance Minister Teixeira dos Santos,
were responsible for calling for assistance from the troika.
I do not want to believe that this is an attempt to strike out facts of history
which are no longer convenient.
Surely, there must be limits to the manipulation of the past".
"It was expected that there would be a follow-up
by all parties of the progress of the negotiations
between the socialist government, and international institutions.
Unfortunately, by strict determination of the socialist government,
this never came to pass.
The PSD had been systematically ignored by the socialist government,
represented as negotiator on these matters
the then Minister of the Presidency Silva Pereira.
Our insistence on obtaining any relevant information,
and our protest against the government´s decision
to let the opposition parties completely in the dark,
were never successful in reversing
the dubious conduct of former Minister of the Presidency.
On the other hand, we only found silence and opacity".
"When the current government took office,
and finally had access to relevant information,
it was noted that the country and the creditor institutions
had been deceived as to the real financial situation of the country.
It was, after all, much worse than had been disclosed,
and it would have very serious consequences for implementation
of the assistance program,
in particular the introduction of additional consolidation fiscal measures".
Those responsible for the tragedy of Portugal´s bankrupcy,
try to rewrite history,
with false lies and manipulation of the media.
António Costa was extremely rude to a journalist
who interviewed him on RTP television.
Of lies, arrogance, manipulation of social media, corruption, fraud
cronies and henchmen of the supreme mastermind of the socialists,
ex-inmate number 44, now in house custody in number 33,
Portugal is sick and tired, more precisely nauseated.
