The "Judas" embrace of António Costa

The "Judas" embrace António Costa
gave António Seguro, after "stabbing him in the back" politically.
It is clearly visible how Costa can not even look his rival in the eye!

In the an article of opinion in the "i" newspaper,
the mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras,
took some critical shots at the performance of Antonio Costa,
(secretary general of the socialist party and contender to the post of PM in the next elections),
during the primary elections against António José Seguro.
"When the troops of Antonio Costa assaulted the PS of Seguro,
Costa believed that the march to power, both within the party and in the country,
would be done on a red carpet," he says.

In a real backstabbing, cowardly operation,
Costa usurped the power from Seguro,
in a party equivalent of a bloodless coup d'etat.
He promised that HE could be the saviour of the party,
that He would bring change to the country
and promised to obtain better results than Seguro,
but until now, Seguro's leadership had been much more consensual
than António Costas'.
Costa's legacy is that he has been far too close to José Sócrates,
imprisoned for investigation of corruption, money laundering and fiscal fraude.
Costa has NOT been able to obtain better results than his rival Seguro.

"2015 has everything it takes to transform itself
into an 'annus horribilis' for the Socialist Party (PS)
and especially for António Costa.
His permanent zigzags on the Greek question,
the constant bickering and divisions
has brought the socialists at odds with the choice of presidential candidates,
while presenting an election program
full of promises and even some real "miracles' " stressed Carlos Carreiras.

"Costa and PS are sinking in the polls."
Apart from that "polls are having nervous internal and external readings."

"Internally, the performance of Costa is too far from any outcome
that could be perceived as convincing,
for those who have an absolute majority as a goal,
but too close to the inadequacy which,
ironically, was the alpha and omega, as reason,
for overthrowing of the previous leadership's strategy "he says,
adding that "the insurmountable problem of Costa,
is his inability to emerge as a reliable
and consistent alternative of good governance".
"Is this the way of hope and change that Costa wanted
and wants to Portugal?" he asks.

The Social Democrat further explains
that "every one vote in the PS
will approach us more and more to the tragic Greek experience.
A vote in the PS becomes an explicit call
for the entry of radical leftists or the PCP (communist party)
and the Left Bloc into the next government."
"The legislative elections are at hand,
but one thing is certain: whatever the outcome,
the October 4th election,
will show a divided socialist party," he added.
