The debacle with the shameful, lying, false outdoors is NOT the Socialists biggest problem

The false "unemployed" girl,
who works in a socialist burough,
is suing the socialist party for the falseness
and abuse of her image on a false pretext

The "renovated" Socialist party

Apart from the ridiculous debacle of the false unemployed,
the false emigrant, the false precarious worker etc,
more than the constant errors,
incompetence or the ensuing court cases,
what really knocks a politician out of the political action,
is to become the national laughing stock.
The Portuguese forgive everything
except when a politician increasingly looks ridiculous.

António Costa is the laughing stock of the nation at the moment,
at every corner, in every café, people are making jokes of the lies,
and falseness on the outdoor posters.

The situation has become surreal.

The choice of "evangelical" scenarios,
using unbiased statistics,
where the legacy of the previous socialist government of José Socrates
 is involuntarily criticized
and fake "real stories" with employees (given as emigrated, unemployed etc)
of a socialist parish council,
are not recommended techniques of good political communication.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THESE AREN'T THE
 REAL PROBLEM

The posters were a disaster, yes, an enormous disater,
but the main problem is political:
the PS is communicating poorly because their message is no good.

António Costa spent months convincing us that he had proposed
to be an alternative, a new hope of change for the current government,
and that his proposal was realistically sustained by a macroeconomic scenario
prepared by reputable economists.

Unfortunately, the socialists macroeconomic scenario,
has already been overtaken by reality.
According to the INE (the National Institue of Statistics),
the current unemployment rate (11.9%)
is way below the targets set for 2015 by the PS (13.6%),
and for 2016 (12.2%),
which, is not only a mere detail
but is a whole world away from what the PS
had foreseen what would be happening in the country.

The economic situation in the country is improving on a daily basis,
which puts António Costa in a race against time,
presenting himself as a solution to the country's problems
which are to being solved without the socialists' help or proposals.

The socialist dramatize the current situation of the country,
striving to turn the good news into something negative.
Deep down, they pretend that the context is fine
and that there never was a troika or an international financial bailout assistance program. They pretend that unemployment is not decreasing
(when it is already lower than it was when the current government took office)
and that job creation is not increasing.
The economy is failing when, in reality it is finally growing
and it is estimated that the tendency will be maintained.
Deep down, the socialists pretend that only António Costa may bring change
and improvement, when after all,
the country has improved without their input.
And because this message makes no sense.
Make no mistake, Mr.António Costa,
this is much worse than the ridiculous posters:
it is a fact that no one likes bad news,
much less to be treated like stupid people in exchange for a vote.

What promised to be the start of an election campaign built on solid documents
and concrete proposals of the PS, was after all, only an illusion:
António Costa chose to use the campaign as a battle between two visions of the country
 - an real economic recovery in Portugal and a Portugal, in misery, on its knees.
It must really hurt when each published statistical indicator
separates the people more and more from the socialists catastrophic vision of Portugal
and hence the need to elect Costa as the new prime minister.

Why does Costa not say to the Portuguese what he said to the Chinese?
That Portugal is in a much better
economical position today, than it was 4 years ago?
 Because,
despite Costa's experience, he has forgotten one of the basic rules of politics:
he who spends his life denying reality is, sooner or later,
 defeated by it.
