The shameful "recent past" of the Socialist Party

Carlos César, president of the Socialist Party

"The speeches of the PSD/CDS coalition party,
show a coalition, that can not inspire the confidence of the Portuguese.
Firstly, because it does not speak the truth about the recent past,
neither about the present situation of the country,
while deliberately hiding the measures that are planned for the next four years, "
responded Carlos César, president of the Socialist party.

Unfortunately, for the socialists,
the truth about "the socialists' recent past"
has NEVER been fully told to the nation.

The socialist have deliberately kept the country in the dark,
thinking they could get away with their corrupt schemes and borrowed money,
which created a false sense of security and well-being in the people's minds.
Nothing is ever mentioned or even admitted,
about the rife corruption within their midst,
the money laundering schemes, the schemes of ripping off the tax-payers
to pay for luxuries, and for the so-called public investments
in mega-projects, all on borrowed money.

Money that international agencies were just too eager to dish out,
until Portugal began to loose its international credibility,
and the foreign investors began to suspect the sustainability of their lending,
without being paid back.
These investors simply closed the tap and stopped the flow of easy money
and an enormous default on payments were inevitable.
Interest rates soared sky-high and the international debt became
unsustainable.
In desperation, the socialists begged for an international bail-out,
as there was just enough money left for less than ONE month,
to pay salaries, pensions and keep the enormous state machine going.

The socialists of José Socrates lost the elections
and the whole hot potato fell into the lap of the PSD/CDS coalition.
The default was much bigger than expected,
there were hundreds of hidden bills of millions outstanding payments.

The PSD/CDS coalition, took on the most ardous task ever,
trying to comply with the strict measures,
of the international bail-out team, known as the "troika".

The road to recovery was hard and sometimes,
seemed impossible to comply,
but with tenacious strength and determination,
the PSD/CDS,
managed to get rid of the "troika",
(althought the country will still be under "troika"
surveillance for another decade or so).

So, with the country still in a very debil situation,
there are some clear signs of economic growth, albeit feeble,
the socialists are itching to get their filthy hands on EU money,
promising massive public investments
and job creation, with tax-payers money.
They count on changes in European policies
(which are not feasible in the near future),
and they are extreme elusive about HOW they will sustain
the Social Security System.

The socialists' "recent past" has brought Portugal to its knees.
Their recent past is wraught with corruption,
money laundering, fiscal evasion, etc,
and even their god-like leader and master, Sócrates, is imprisoned for crimes
connected with the last governance.

Speaking of a recent past,
instead of constantly calling the current coalition party leaders liars,
why not start telling the TRUTH about their own "recent past"?
The truth could help to reconcile the country
and help in bringing the country out of the woods.

The recent past of the socialists is shameful and unmentionable.
They fail to assume their mistakes and redeem their "recent past" sins
and do penetance for the destruction of the country's economic structure
and to have indebted Portugal until 2050!

That is the shameful "recent past"
that Portugal DOES NOT NEED
and does not want to suffer from again!

How can Portugal's future be defined by the "confidence"
in the socialists' promises and their "unassumed recent past"
of delusions and fantasies that brough only
shame, suffering and hardship to a nation for generations to come?
