After being accused of going beyond his juridic competence,
and facing 11 years suspension from the justice system,
Baltazar Garzon was finally absolved, this morning,
from the accusation against him.
Extreme right-wing groups,
accused Garzon of exceding his competences,
when he opened an investigation
into the political crimes committed
during the Franco dictatorship (1936 - 1975)
and Spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939),
causing the death of thousands of Spanish citizens,
and thousands missing without any trace.
Garzon's "aggressive" style of investigation of ETA crimes,
as well as other political and corruption crimes,
rubbed many influencial persons up the wrong way,
and he found himself isolated,
with many very important enemies,
which brought him face to face with justice himself.
His absolvation was voted 6 in favour and 1 against,
in the Supreme Court, this morning!
