The Évora Court refuted the existence of "unconstitutionality and nullity"
in upholding the ruling of conviction of two former inspectors of the Judicial Police (PJ),
in the process of aggressions against Leonor Cipriano,
the mother of Joana, the young girl,
who went missing in the Algarve in 2004.
In the decision of the resources of the former inspectors,
notified on 18 March 2011, the court also maintained the prison penalty
(suspended in its execution), of one year and six months, for making false allegations
applied to Gonçalo Amaral,
former coordinator of the Criminal Investigation Department
of Portimão. (Correio da Manha)
What is absolutely appaling, is that this very same inspector,
Gonçalo Amaral,
was also responsible for the investigation into
the disappearance of Madelein MacCann,
and the first to claim, without any evidence that the girl was dead,
and accused her distraught parents of being involved.
The case of Joana and Madelein has many similarities:
both disappeared without trace from the Algarve;
both cases were investigated by the same inspector;
in both cases the parents were accused of being involved without ANY evidence;
in the case of Joana, the mother, Leonar Cipriano,
was subjected to physical abuse and torture,
under interrogation, and forced to make a "confession";
Gonçalo Amaral tried the same tactics with Madelein's mother,
trying to force her to confess;
in both cases, NO TRACE of the girls were ever found,
no bodies, no scent, no clues,
NOTHING!!
In both cases, a case against the parents were build on
supposed "scientific" evidence that came to nothing,
hundereds of clues were left uninvestigated,
both cases were just based on
the unproven assumptions of Mr. Gonçalo Amaral,
now condemned in court for false declarations
in the case of the disappearance of Joana.
