22 deaths in Europe from E.coli bacteria found in Soy sprouts

More than 2000 people, in 13 countries,
have been infected by a deadly,
unknown strain of the E.coli bacteria
which have caused the death of at least 22 people.

The Health Minister of Lower Saxonia,
Gert Linderman,
blamed the E.coli outbreak in Germany
on
SOY SPROUTS!!

Soy sprouts are eaten raw in salads,
soy is the most generally genetically modified
vegetable used in the food chain.

"Genetically modified organisms have had specific changes introduced into their DNA by genetic engineering techniques. These techniques are much more precise[1]than mutagenesis (mutation breeding) where an organism is exposed to radiation or chemicals to create a non-specific but stable change. Other techniques by which humans modify food organisms include selective breeding; plant breeding, and animal breeding, and somaclonal variation.

Typically, genetically modified foods are transgenic plant products: soybean,corn, canola, and cotton seed oil."

The BIG QUESTION and controversy is open:

genetically modified food;
genetic engineering;
food safety.

Disturbingly, the only published human feeding study on GM foods ever conducted verified that the gene inserted into GM soy transfers into the DNA of our gut bacteria and continues to function. This means that years after you stop eating GM soy, you may still have a potentially allergenic protein continuously being produced in your intestines.
